BoneConductionHPs.jpg

Are Bone Conduction headphones safe?

The latest trend could come at a high price, and I'm not just talking monetarily. Bone conduction headphones might be good for some reasons, but they can still cause hearing loss. So please be careful not to play them too loud (greater than 90-110 dB) or for too long. The long term exposure ( greater than 45-60 min) at high volumes can lead to greater risk of damaging the cilia in your cochlea. Please educate yourself before following the flow of trends. If you have questions about your hearing, call us.

Medicare: To Be, or Not to Be a Benefit

A common question we get when people are looking to schedule an hearing appointment is, does Medicare cover it? The answer is a resounding NO. Usually the coverage for hearing, vision and dental falls to your supplemental insurance policy. However, they are not required to offer benefits. If they do, what are they? How do you find out? The best thing you can do is speak with a professional who knows what they are looking for. Call your insurance provider and check on specific services. If they don't offer it, do they work with someone who does (like TruHearing, a third-party hearing aid supplier). Follow the link to learn more, or don't wait and call us today to get your questions answered.

Retrain Your Brain

Congratulations on taking the next step to better hearing.  Good communication effects everything.  The National Council on Aging reports that hearing loss negatively impacts quality of life, personal relationships, communication ability, and it can cause depression.  Although no hearing aid can restore your hearing to 100% normal, they have evolved over the years and are quite amazing tiny devices.

Hearing Losses Affect on Mental Health

Can hearing loss affect mental health?

Hearing loss and tinnitus (ringing in the ears) can increase one's risk of developing mental illnesses including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and dementia, and can trigger episodes of extreme anger and suicidal ideation.

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR.jpg

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?

Our goal is to provide better hearing for better living, so we asked you what sounds you would miss most if you had hearing loss or didn’t have your hearing aids.

Here is some of what you said:

~“The jokes my grandchildren tell me!” -Teri

~~“That sound of a fish flopping on the dock.” – Tom

~~~“My son’s voice. I already have difficulty hearing with my aids broken. But at least I can hear his voice still, till further notice. That is all that matters. To be there for him and still hear a whisper in my ears of his voice.” – Melissa
~~~~“I would miss being included. People treat you like you are not there because you can’t participate.” —Lana

~~~~~“I miss talking on the phone with clarity, other than that I’m good not to be able to hear everything I always said out of all the senses I would rather lose my hearing than my sight.” — Ben
~~~~“I would miss the voices of my husband, family, friends, my animals, and music. Too much to list just one thing.” —Michelle

~~~“Ocean waves crashing on the beach…I love the sounds of water moving.” – Tabby
~~“Music!” – Dallas
Ask yourself this. What are you missing? Give yourself the gift HEARING this Christmas. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
Personalized Hearing Protection (Custom Earplugs)
Our new ad, coming out soon on custom ear protection, a.k.a. Personalized Hearing Protection, are just as, if not more, effective for the prevention of noise-induced hearing loss as are disposable earplugs.
Just as hearing loss is known as the invisible disability, sound is known as the invisible threat. Without even being cognizant of it, the sounds we expose ourselves to might be causing permanent hearing loss that grows irreversibly over the years.
