Are Bone Conduction headphones safe?

The latest trend could come at a high price, and I'm not just talking monetarily. Bone conduction headphones might be good for some reasons, but they can still cause hearing loss. So please be careful not to play them too loud (greater than 90-110 dB) or for too long. The long term exposure ( greater than 45-60 min) at high volumes can lead to greater risk of damaging the cilia in your cochlea. Please educate yourself before following the flow of trends. If you have questions about your hearing, call us.

We are TruHearing Providers!

As of last week, we have officially joined the TruHearing network. They are a third-party source that you can get hearing aids from at discounted prices, usually through your insurance provider. If you have any questions give us a call or call your insurance provider. You can also call TruHearing and they can check your insurance for you and put you in contact with us for an appointment. Best of luck!

Medicare: Cover Hearing, or Hearing Aids?

A common question we get when people are looking to schedule an hearing appointment is, does Medicare cover it? The answer is a resounding NO. Usually the coverage for hearing, vision and dental falls to your supplemental insurance policy. However, they are not required to offer benefits. If they do, what are they? How do you find out? The best thing you can do is speak with a professional who knows what they are looking for. Call your insurance provider and check on specific services. You want to know if a hearing test (out patient service) and hearing aids (durable medical equipment, purchase) are covered. If they don't offer it, do they work with someone (a network) who does (like TruHearing, a third-party hearing aid supplier). Follow the link to learn more, or don't wait and call us today to get your questions answered.

Retrain Your Brain

Congratulations on taking the next step to better hearing.  Good communication effects everything.  The National Council on Aging reports that hearing loss negatively impacts quality of life, personal relationships, communication ability, and it can cause depression.  Although no hearing aid can restore your hearing to 100% normal, they have evolved over the years and are quite amazing tiny devices.

Hearing Losses Affect on Mental Health

Can hearing loss affect mental health?

Hearing loss and tinnitus (ringing in the ears) can increase one's risk of developing mental illnesses including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and dementia, and can trigger episodes of extreme anger and suicidal ideation.

Personalized Hearing Protection (Custom Earplugs)

Our new ad, coming out soon on custom ear protection, a.k.a. Personalized Hearing Protection, are just as, if not more, effective for the prevention of noise-induced hearing loss as are disposable earplugs.

Just as hearing loss is known as the invisible disability, sound is known as the invisible threat. Without even being cognizant of it, the sounds we expose ourselves to might be causing permanent hearing loss that grows irreversibly over the years.
